What is a Bernedoodle?
A Bernedoodle is a cross between a Poodle and Bernese Mountain Dog. As with any crossbreeds, you can expect the offspring to share the behavioral and physical characteristics of the parent breeds. The Bernedoodle provides the best of both worlds: gentle and goofy when it comes to personality, with a highly intelligent and friendly behavior which makes them the perfect family dog. In fact, they become quite attached to their beloved family members, which is likely where their nickname “velcro dog” was derived. Their intelligence make them typically easy to train with positive reinforcement.
Bernedoodles can range in color from black/brown, black/white, solid black or white and tri-color. Their coat may be curly, wavy or straight. The more wavy/curly coats tend to shed less and be more hypoallergenic. This type coat does require an occasional trim at the groomers to maintain a fluffy healthy coat and prevent fur matting.
